In 2007 schreven honderden wetenschappers een open Brandbrief aan de Verenigde Naties over het klimaatbeleid. Boudine van Boublog<\/a> heeft deze brief vertaald, waarvoor onze dank! Wij vragen niet vaak om actie te ondernemen maar deze brief moet zo breed mogelijk gedeeld worden op het internet, twitter, facebook en instagram. Mensen die \u00e9\u00e9n van deze social media gebruiken roep ik hierbij op deze te gebruiken.Er is namelijk bewust geprobeerd deze brief onder het tapijt te vegen waarmee de indruk wordt gewekt dat wetenschappers het allemaal eens zijn met het IPCC, dat is dus pertinent NIET waar!<\/p>\n

Re: VN-klimaatconferentie die de wereld in de verkeerde richting stuurt<\/p>\n

Het is niet mogelijk om de klimaatverandering te stoppen, een natuurlijk fenomeen dat de mensheid door de eeuwen heen heeft be\u00efnvloed. Geologische, archeologische, mondelinge en schriftelijke geschiedenissen getuigen allemaal van de dramatische uitdagingen die aan samenlevingen in het verleden werden gesteld door onverwachte veranderingen in temperatuur, neerslag, wind en andere klimatologische variabelen. We moeten daarom landen toerusten om veerkrachtig te worden voor het volledige scala van deze natuurverschijnselen door economische groei en het genereren van rijkdom te bevorderen.<\/p>\n

Het Intergouvernementeel Panel van de Verenigde Naties over klimaatverandering (IPCC)<\/span><\/strong><\/a> heeft steeds alarmerende conclusies gegeven over de klimatologische invloeden van door de mens geproduceerde kooldioxide (CO2), een niet-verontreinigend gas dat essentieel is voor fotosynthese van planten. Hoewel we het bewijsmateriaal begrijpen dat hen ertoe heeft gebracht CO2-emissies als schadelijk te beschouwen, zijn de conclusies van het IPCC vrij ontoereikend als rechtvaardiging voor het implementeren van beleid dat toekomstige welvaart aanzienlijk zal verminderen. In het bijzonder is niet aangetoond dat het mogelijk is om het wereldklimaat aanzienlijk te veranderen door de uitstoot van menselijke broeikasgassen te verminderen. Daar komt bij dat, omdat pogingen om emissies te verminderen de ontwikkeling zullen vertragen, de huidige VN-aanpak van CO2-reductie waarschijnlijk het lijden van de mens aan toekomstige klimaatverandering zal vergroten in plaats van deze te verminderen.<\/p>\n

De IPCC-samenvattingen voor beleidsmakers zijn de meest gelezen IPCC-rapporten onder politici en niet-wetenschappers en vormen de basis voor de meeste formulering van het klimaatveranderingsbeleid. Maar deze samenvattingen worden voorbereid door een relatief klein kernteam, waarbij de definitieve versies regel voor regel door de overheid worden goedgekeurd. De grote meerderheid van de IPCC-contribuanten en -reviewers en de tienduizenden andere wetenschappers die gekwalificeerd zijn om opmerkingen te maken over deze kwesties, zijn niet betrokken bij de voorbereiding van deze documenten. De samenvattingen kunnen daarom niet goed worden weergegeven als een consensus onder deskundigen.<\/p>\n

In tegenstelling tot de indruk achtergelaten door de IPCC Samenvatting-rapporten:<\/p>\n

* Recente observaties van verschijnselen zoals gletsjerretraites, stijging van de zeespiegel en de migratie van temperatuurgevoelige soorten zijn geen bewijs voor abnormale klimaatverandering, omdat geen van deze veranderingen buiten de grenzen van de bekende natuurlijke variabiliteit bleek te liggen.<\/p>\n

* De gemiddelde opwarmingssnelheid van 0,1 tot 0,2 graden Celsius per decennium gemeten door satellieten tijdens het einde van de 20e eeuw valt binnen de bekende natuurlijke snelheden van opwarming en afkoeling gedurende de laatste 10.000 jaar.<\/p>\n

* Toonaangevende wetenschappers, waaronder enkele vooraanstaande IPCC-vertegenwoordigers, erkennen dat de huidige computermodellen het klimaat niet kunnen voorspellen. In overeenstemming daarmee, en ondanks computerprojecties van temperatuurstijgingen, is er sinds 1998 geen netto-klimaatverandering geweest. Dat het huidige temperatuurplateau een laat-20e-eeuwse periode van opwarming volgt, is consistent met de voortzetting van de natuurlijke multi-decadale of millenniale klimaatcycli.<\/p>\n

In schril contrast met de vaak herhaalde bewering dat de wetenschap van de klimaatverandering \u2018gesetteld\u2019 is, heeft significant nieuw peer-reviewed onderzoek nog meer twijfel doen ontstaan over de hypothese van gevaarlijke door de mens veroorzaakte opwarming van de aarde. Maar omdat IPCC-werkgroepen over het algemeen werden ge\u00efnstrueerd om alleen artikelen in beschouwing te nemen die tot mei 2005 zijn gepubliceerd, zijn deze belangrijke bevindingen niet opgenomen in hun rapporten; d.w.z. de beoordelingsrapporten van het IPCC zijn al wezenlijk verouderd.<\/p>\n

De VN-klimaatconferentie op Bali<\/span><\/strong><\/a> is gepland om de wereld mee te slepen op een pad van ernstige CO2-beperkingen, waarbij de lessen die blijken uit het falen van het Kyoto-protocol<\/span><\/strong><\/a>, het chaotische karakter van de Europese CO2-handelsmarkt en de ineffectiviteit van andere kostbare initiatieven om broeikasgasemissies te beteugelen worden genegeerd. Evenwichtige kosten \/ batenanalyses bieden geen ondersteuning voor de invoering van wereldwijde maatregelen om het energieverbruik te beperken en in te krimpen met het oog op het beperken van de CO2-uitstoot. Bovendien is het irrationeel om het \u201cvoorzorgsbeginsel\u201d toe te passen, omdat veel wetenschappers erkennen dat zowel klimaatafkoeling als opwarming op de middellange termijn realistische mogelijkheden zijn.<\/p>\n

De huidige focus van de VN op \u2018bestrijding van de klimaatverandering\u2019, zoals ge\u00efllustreerd in het Human Development Report<\/span><\/strong><\/a> van het VN-ontwikkelingsprogramma van 27 november, leidt ertoe dat regeringen zich niet aanpassen aan de dreiging van onvermijdelijke natuurlijke klimaatveranderingen, in welke vorm dan ook. Nationale en internationale planning voor dergelijke veranderingen is nodig, met de nadruk op het helpen van onze meest kwetsbare burgers bij het aanpassen aan de omstandigheden die voor ons liggen. Pogingen om de wereldwijde klimaatverandering te voorkomen zijn uiteindelijk nutteloos en vormen een tragische verkeerde toewijzing van middelen die beter zouden worden besteed aan de echte en dringende problemen van de mensheid.<\/p>\n
